How to verify a credit provider

Start with the legal name

Ask which legal entity will be named on the agreement. A brand name and a similar domain can refer to different businesses. Compare the registration number, legal name, trading name and current status together.

Use the relevant official register

For a credit provider use the NCR register. For financial-services authorisation use the FSCA search. For company records use CIPC. A company registration alone does not establish permission to provide every financial service.
