Test the budget, not just the instalment
List income, essentials, existing repayments and irregular bills. A payment that fits only if nothing goes wrong may be too high. Do not borrow solely to unlock a discount or because a previous application succeeded.

Look for clear information
Check the lender in an official register, read every cost and keep copies of documents. Be cautious about pressure to act immediately, requests for passwords or instructions to conceal debts. See the security checklist.
