Changing a repayment date

Contact the lender before the due date

Explain why the date needs to move and provide a realistic alternative. A request does not automatically change the agreement or pause a collection. Ask what happens while the request is considered.

Confirm the effect on cost

A date change may affect interest, fees, the first instalment or the remaining schedule. Ask for a revised breakdown and any mandate changes. Compare the new total, not only the new date.

Keep the confirmation

Save written agreement of the effective date and payment instructions. BluCross’s calculator cannot change a repayment or send instructions to a bank. If the problem is an unaffordable amount rather than timing, read payment difficulties.
